Threes Company was a sitcom that ran from March 15th 1977 – September 18 1984; that revolved around three roommates Jack Tripper, Janet Wood. and Chrissy Snow. Based off of the English show Man About the House, The subject matter of this show was quite controversial due to the fact a straight man would live with two women. When the trio weren’t trying to hide their secret they were hanging out with Jacks friend Larry at the Regal Beagle.
After a rough start to the show it was finally on the air and became a huge hit. Most episodes revolved around Jack trying to keep his sexuality a secret from nosy landlord Mr. Roper and Helen Roper. Other plot point were based around Jack working as a chief and Janet working at a flower shop. Later episodes saw Mr Ferley replace Mr Roper as well as Chrissy’s cousin Cindy Snow replace Chrissy (played by Susan Summers); who left the show during Season 5.
Threes company is a series of sexual jokes, follies and situations that some would deem inappropriate but often time quite innocent. Any apprehension about the show was put to rest as the shows ratings continued to soar.
In May 2003, NBC aired a two-hour television movie entitled Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Three’s Company, which covered the entire run of Threes Company.
